Pastor - Colin Baker
Colin became Pastor of Sheddingdean Baptist Church in September 2025. He grew up in South London and, on leaving school, entered the printing industry as a compositor, developing skills in typesetting, page layout and design. After marrying Alison, he moved to Kent where they raised their family. It was during these years that Colin increasingly sensed God’s call to Christian ministry, leading him to train at Spurgeon’s College.
Ministry subsequently took Colin and Alison north to church planting in Scotland, followed by pastoral leadership in Essex and Berkshire before coming to West Sussex. Colin has a particular passion for preaching, helping people discover and use their gifts, and encouraging the church to look beyond its walls and engage with the wider community. He is also Chaplain to Burgess Hill Town Football Club and enjoys building relationships with local schools, community groups and organisations.
Colin and Alison have three adult children who have now flown the nest, and an eight-year-old granddaughter who is a complete delight to them. Away from church life, they enjoy travelling and walking their two dogs, Millie and Montie.
